Another One Slips

The A's had every opportunity to win this one, but opportunities don't count in the standings. After home runs from Jonah Heim and Lawrence Butler gave the A's a 2-1 lead, the offense repeatedly put runners on base only to come up empty in the biggest moments. They stranded Jacob Wilson at third in the seventh, wasted Butler's leadoff double in the ninth with a chance to walk it off, and watched strikeouts pile up in key situations as Boston escaped every jam.
