Another View: Foster Parenting

The great news - the number of African American children in foster care is on the decline - between 2001-2016 the number of Black children in the foster care system declined by 40%. The not-so-good news - African American children are still significantly over represented compared to children of other ethnic groups in the foster care system. African American children in foster care tend to remain in the system longer and tend to face significant long term challenges such as unemployment, incarceration and homelessness. We talk about foster parenting and why Black foster parents are so critically needed.
