#123: Anson Dorrance is a 21x National Champion Coach for the University of North Carolina’s Women's Soccer Program & led the United States Women’s National Team to their first World Cup title in 1991, where he served as the head coach from 1986-1994.In 2008 he was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame. He has one of the most successful records in all of sports with 1,093 games won at Carolina. The list of accomplished athletes that he has coached is endless. He has coached 19 different players to National Player-of-the-Year honors, including three-time recipient Cindy Parlow and Mia Hamm, who was selected the Greatest Female Athlete in the ACC’s first 50 years. Dorrance has been named National Coach of the Year seven times, six as the women’s head coach (1982, 1986, 1997, 2000, 2003 and 2006) and once with the men (1987).On the show Coach Dorrance shares his unique story of growing up, learning from Coach Dean Smith, playing soccer, competition, coaching, snowplow parents, accountability, being a loving critic, the competitive-cauldron and much much more.
