Answering Your Questions: Foods in the Bible

from Biblical Nutrition Academy Podcast · host Annette Reeder

What are the foods in the Bible to eat? Here are some biblical foods you need to eat and how they can help your body and mind. 1. What is the difference between elephant garlic and regular? Also, USA garlic is sometimes hard to find but I do find garlic in small airtight bags from California but they are peeled. Thoughts on those? Delicious question – many people question leeks compared to onions. Same family - same similar flavor. Only with garlic versus elephant garlic – they are not the same. Elephant garlic is from the Allium ampeloprasum – leek family. Garlic is Allium sativum Elephant garlic – is a wild leek. For most of us – it is giant garlic – tastes the same – looks the same – grows the same. It is important not to buy certain foreign foods – always look for country of origin and then ask yourself -0 does this country support my beliefs. I do not buy crushed, peeled, minced garlic. I do use dried powdered garlic – although I try to grow enough to make my own for a full year. 2. Sherry Bailey asks - Hi, the planting season for garlic in my area ended in Dec. I have some seed garlic I've wanted to keep propagating and I've not planted it. Should I try it even though it's 21 days late? It will get hot here very soon. If I don't plant it I doubt I can keep it from rotting before next season. Growing is fun and rewarding. I many times miss the scheduled best times to plant and propagate. If it were me I would plant it anyways. I personally am hoping to add a greenhouse so I can have a little more flexibility in my growing seasons. So – yes – plant it and watch it grow. Growing in California – this is year-round produce. – plant now and enjoy. 3. Ian Donegan asks: What is a good way to use beans in your diet? This is almost an endless answer. Hummus will always be my favorite way to enjoy beans – hummus can be made from any bean. Black beans are my favorite. Add beans to soup, salads, or make a paste and spread it on your sandwich. Dried beans can be milled to add protein to any food you are baking. Remember – you don't need a lot of beans for a healthy diet. 4. Grace Lottso asks: Can you follow your way of eating if you are pre-diabetic? Absolutely – yes! This is a pre-diabetic eating plan. High fiber – lots of vegetables, quality protein - all from natural sources – plus freshly milled grains – just the chromium in freshly milled grains and the high fiber bring glucose into its proper balance. Enjoy God's foods – they were meant for living.
