Anti-Racism - Creating Culturally Relevant Connections in the Classroom

from KINL Podcast Network · host Keep Indiana Learning

In today's episode Tim Wilhelmus interviews fellow Keep Indiana Learning Digital Learning Coach Chevin Stone about anti-racism for educators and how essential classroom connections and relationships are to creating a safe and culturally responsive space for learning. Through their conversations in this episode and the continued conversations through the Indiana Connected Educators book study of So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo, we start to uncover the ways that we can each know better to do better.  An educator with 18+ years of experience in the classroom, Chevin Stone is a dedicated lover of all things science and technology.  She is a Google Certified Educator and Edtech coach, working with teachers as they become more skilled with tech in the classroom. Her interest in antiracism comes from a desire to help all teachers reflect on their personal and professional biases so the relationships they build with their students are authentic and genuine.
