from RHCCC DTM Latest Sermon · host Rev. Kelly Tam

sermon notesAnticipation: PeaceRev. Kelly TamScripture: Luke 1:76-79Peace, in the Biblical sense means to take what is broken and restore it to what it was meant to be.For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.—Isaiah 9:6———Jesus gives us securityAnd this righteousness will bring peace. Yes, it will bring quietness and confidence forever.—Isaiah 32:17———Jesus gives us clarityDon’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.—Philippians 4:6-7———With Jesus there is no end to peaceI have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”—John 16:33———As the Prince of Peach enters our life, we become People of PeaceAnd you, my little son, will be called the prophet of the Most High, because you will prepare the way for the Lord. You will tell his people how to find salvation through forgiveness of their sins.Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.”—Luke 1:76-69———How do we make sense of this brokenness?Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. 14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.—Colossians 3:12-15
