Anticipatory Grief: Grief Before an Expected Loss with Holly Reigh, End-of-Life Dula

from The Caregiver Community · host The MESH

Most people think of grief as something that happens after a loved one’s death. But grieving can also occur days, weeks, months, or even years before death. Anticipatory grief is grief that one feels about losses to come. Holly Reigh, an End-of-Life Dula, will help listeners recognize, understand, and learn to cope with their anticipatory grief. This episode of The Caregiver Community is made possible by our sponsor, Pace @ Home in Hickory, NC. Holly Reigh, a Licensed Practical Nurse, Certified Care Manager, and Certified Dementia Practitioner is also an End-of-Life Dula. She has spent 15 years working in all areas of hospice in Pennsylvania, leaving an Executive Director’s post to begin her own end-of-life practice 5 years ago. She consults and coaches families through some of their most challenging end-of-life circumstances. While providing care for her mother, Frances S. Hall, Founder, and Executive Director of ACAPcommunity began ACAP as a monthly educational support program for fellow faculty and staff on a small NC university campus, then transitioned the program into a nationally unique, community-impact nonprofit model in 2012. With a master’s degree in higher education administration and a 30+-year career in higher education and nonprofits, Frances continues to lead the growing organization as it continues to provide information, resources support, and community for adult children and others who care for older loved ones.
