Any Tips for Picking Troop Crests? How do we keep the girls from choosing the UNICORN? (Ask Me Anything!)

I recently asked the Facebook group (facebook.com/girlscoutpodcast) - "If you could ask me anything and get my opinion or thoughts about it in an episode, what would it be?" & you guys delivered!  Group member Jenn wants to know the 411 about troop crests (do people say that anymore? I am sure they don't). Are girls stuck with them for the whole duration of Girl Scouts or can they choose new ones later? And any suggestions to help girls choose a crest OTHER than the unicorn.
