Apologies, Forgiveness and the Art of Not Being a D**k

from Walking Alongside: Perspectives · host Charissa McKay

Have thoughts or ideas? Please share here! Can you remember the last time that you had to apologize? Or the last time someone apologized to you? Or the time that you thought someone should apologize to you and didn't? Who among us can say that they haven't pissed someone off on purpose or inadvertently? I would like to think that it is more often the latter, but given the state of the world these days, I'm not so sure anymore. Here's my take on how I still struggle, despite "knowing better" at not sticking my foot either in a big flaming bag of dog poo (bonus points if you remember which movie that featured in) or firmly in my mouth, as well as my thoughts on what I'm continuing to try to do better. Love to hear YOUR thoughts on where you land on all of this! Here's Esther Perel's Blog on Apologies if you're interested: https://www.estherperel.com/blog/the-power-of-apologizing-relearn-how-to-say-im-sorryHere's the songs featured in this episode:The Apology Song (The Decembrists) https://open.spotify.com/track/0jFKuwXlirLLPDDGeenm8G?si=a3640c4f5a6e4861You Were Always on My Mind (Pet Shop Boys) https://open.spotify.com/track/2SWn864dJI5RNyrp3F4Kp1?si=b9e032454bd540e3Unstoppable (Sia) https://open.spotify.com/track/1yvMUkIOTeUNtNWlWRgANS?si=8da125ed92804946Sorry (Justin Bieber) https://open.spotify.com/track/09CtPGIpYB4BrO8qb1RGsF?si=2ccb8bb55d354843Hard to Say I'm Sorry (Chicago) https://open.spotify.com/track/58DXqHKK7TfxUmhCq2ux4E?si=cf37bc8ab15b460dIf I Could Turn Back Time (Cher) https://open.spotify.com/track/6mYrhCAGWzTdF8QnKuchXM?si=ad70af658ce94c50Man in the Mirror (Michael Jackson) https://open.spotify.com/track/2u2udGmop1z67EPpr91km7?si=68c957bf207e44a5 Listen wherever you get your podcasts - you can find us on Podcast Addict, Podchaser, Pocket Casts, Deezer, Player FM, Tune-In and of course Spotify, Google Player and Apple Podcasts - where if you can leave a comment or throw me some ideas of topics you'd like to hear about, that would be great. Walking The Walk is written, recorded and produced by me - Charissa McKay (aka CharCharBinx) in my awesome basement home office/studio/craft room on Treaty 6 lands known originally as amiskwaciy-wâskahikan, meaning Beaver Hill House, in Nehiyawewin (Cree).
