App State Men's Basketball Secures Home Win, Tops Sun Belt

App State Mens Basketball Secures Home Win, Secures First Place in Sun Belt Conference The App State mens basketball team wrapped up their home schedule with an impressive 89-74 victory over Georgia Southern. The Mountaineers honored their three seniors before the game and closed strong with a 25-14 run in the final seven minutes, securing their eleventh home win of the season and improving their record to 19-11. A clutch three-pointer from Eren Banks with just over a minute left sparked a 13-4 finishing surge, turning a six-point lead into a comfortable 15-point final margin. App State now holds first place in the Sun Belt Conference at 11-6, half a game ahead of three teams with 10-6 records. The seniors, Jalen Tot, Alonzo Dodd, and Kasen Jennings, all scored in double figures, with Dodd notching his third double-double of the year on 12 points and 10 assists. Their performances helped App State pull away after Georgia Southern tied the game midway through the second half. Luke Wilson stood out with 19 points and 10 rebounds, his second double-double in three games, while the bench contributed 23 points, the most in nearly two months. Banks added 13 points, mostly late, and Chad Moodie provided key early buckets. App State will travel to Texas State on Friday at 8 p.m. Eastern for their regular-season finale, with a chance to secure at least a share of the Sun Belt title and earn a top-two seed for the tournament.
