Apple Cup Clash: Cougars Aim for History | Spokane News

Washington State is primed for a high-stakes Apple Cup showdown against No. 17 Washington, where pride, history, and redemption collide. With a new head coach and revamped roster, the Cougars aim to bounce back from last year’s loss while facing the challenge of stopping dual-threat QB Demond Williams Jr.—back with fresh talent but missing key playmakers. On offense, freshman QB Caden Pinnick makes his first start, relying on a strong line to survive Washington’s relentless pass rush. The defense must execute flawlessly, focusing on containment and discipline to shut down Williams and his receivers. For WSU, this isn’t just another game—it’s a chance to etch their name into rivalry lore and prove they belong on the national stage.
