Apple Watch adds hypertension notification

from Techstination Hosted by Fred Fishkin

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. Apple is bringing more capabilities to the Apple Watch series 9 and newer that can help keep you healthy. New hypertension notifications…have arrived. Rajiv Kumar, physician-researcher at Apple tells us… “Hypertension is a state that results from chronic high blood pressure. The Apple Watch has an optical heart sensor on the back crystal that faces towards the wrist and it shine a light through the skin and is able to assess the blood vessels with each heartbeat and look for changes that might be suggestive of hypertension and notify a user that they might have hypertension based on those characteristics.” So important since hypertension very often goes undetected. Keep in mind..this is not a direct blood pressure monitor..but an alert function. More info? Check out Apple.com/health. You can find us at Techstination.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
