Apple's Smartest Notification Fix Has a Big Catch

Your iPhone hits you with dozens of useless notifications every single day, but Apple’s smartest fix has one massive catch. It’s called Notify Me. In theory, it turns your phone into an actual personal assistant. You pick the exact event you care about—like an urgent message or a delivery update—and it silences the rest of the noise. On an Always-On display, it feels like pure magic. But in real life, it stumbles hard. Critical alerts often arrive late, or pop up at the worst possible moments. Worse, Apple locks you into rigid presets with almost zero customization for location or timing. Once Apple opens this up to third-party developers and nails the timing, it changes everything. Until then, your lock screen is still a digital billboard.
