BDN War Room — April 16, 2026. Day 47 of the Iran war. Trump announced a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon this afternoon, starting at 5 PM ET. He pushed it through before Israel's security cabinet had even finished discussing it. Netanyahu agreed but says Israel is not withdrawing from southern Lebanon. Hezbollah wasn't part of the talks. Iran has been demanding a Lebanon ceasefire as a condition for any broader deal — this could be the thing that unlocks round two. The US blockade of Iranian ports is tightening. CENTCOM says 13 ships have been turned around. Iran suspended all petrochemical exports and is threatening Red Sea shipping. The Pentagon says it's "locked and loaded" if talks fail. Pakistan is running a massive diplomatic push — army chief in Tehran, prime minister touring Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey. Pakistani sources say there's been a "major breakthrough" on Iran's nuclear program. A second round of US-Iran talks is expected next week in Pakistan. The Senate killed the war powers resolution for the fourth time yesterday, 47-52. The House votes on its own today. The 60-day War Powers Act deadline hits May 1 — and some Republicans are starting to hedge. Updated death toll: 3,300+ killed in Iran. 2,100+ in Lebanon. 13 US service members dead. Over a million displaced. The BDN War Room airs daily after The Brief. Subscribe so you don't miss it.
