Judges of the International Criminal Court last week overturned a 2016 verdict against the former Vice President of the Democratic Republic of Congo Jean Pierre Bemba and quashed his 18-year prison sentence, stating that he could not be held criminally liable for crimes committed by his troops in the Central African Republic in 2002-2003.
