Arcana 4. The Emperor

In each episode of Arcana, Jodie invites Soulstice team members Bea and Audree to unpack a Tarot card and see how the archetype can deepen our understanding of what it means to live, grow and change. The conversation is supported by their knowledge from lived experience, spontaneous thought and psychotherapy training.The Emperor card is our starting point for this episode. Our in-house Tarot specialist, Bea, introduces us to this card of divine masculinity and the symbolism of how he is firmly depicted. This sparks debate about the ‘Divine Masculine’ versus the societal ‘False Masculine’. Jodie admires the caring, protective and supportive qualities this archetype holds. Audree challenges the gender binary with ecological and elemental thinking. Together they aim to deconstruct the false masculine need to colonise, dominate and gain & maintain control. They wonder how to connect to the abundant source of power within and equally how to use this power as nutrients to support themselves and others, ultimately becoming The Emperor.
