Known as first Russian female DJ Lena Popova started playing vinyl only in 1994, preferring mostly techno in its different forms, also electro and breaks. She was the resident and promoter of famous St Petersburg based Tunnel club which was known as alma mater of local underground talents. In 1996 she started a career on radio, hosting two weekly shows on the legendary Russian underground Radio Port. Since 1997 Lena Popova has been a resident of Kazantip Festival (previously held in Crimea, since 2014 in Georgia, now known as Befooz and Epizode in Vietnam). As a Minister of Happiness of Kazantip Republic she was managing St Petersburg stage since 2002.At the moment Lena’s collection of vinyl includes more than 2000 records. Now she is responsible for Technicheskiy Pereryv (Technical Break) show on Radio Record. She is a resident of m_division community taking part in the most important events on electronic music scene in St Petersburg such as Gamma Festival, big raves Nobel, Beta, Mystery, Artification project. Also she performs at the most noted local techno clubs: in Stackenschneider, having her own monthly party Lena & The Gang, in KPD, Mosaique, Masts and others venues. Besides she tours a lot with gigs all over Russia and abroad. Her DJ sets are always eclectic, emotional and distinctive.
