Archivist Scott Brouwer on library’s award-winning series, Dark La Crosse Stories
from WIZM - La Crosse Talk Interviews · host WIZM News Staff
Revealing the seedy underbelly of La Crosse has been Scott Brouwer’s mission for over a decade. The La Crosse Public Library archivist stopped in the WIZM studio for La Crosse Talk to discuss the history of their series, Dark La Crosse Stories — ahead of a state award it’s receiving Monday from the Wisconsin Historical Society. We also tease the newest installment in the now YouTube-based series, called Still Trouble — about moonshine operations and bootlegging during Prohibition in La Crosse — which will be unveiled Monday, as well. The award ceremony is open to the public and takes place from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Capella Performing Arts Center, where the series will receive the Governor’s Award Archival Innovation. On the show, we discuss how Dark La Crosse Stories has evolved, where and how they get their ideas, and listen to a couple of clips from past episodes. All episodes of Dark La Crosse Stories can be found on the La Crosse Public Library YouTube page here. La Crosse Talk airs weekdays at 6-8 a.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska).
