In this episode, Angela interviews Professor Vivek Sankaran, Director of the Child Advocacy Law and Child Welfare Appellate Clinics at the University of Michigan's School of Law. Professor Sankaran encourages stakeholders to question whether TPR is in the best interests of as many children as we think it is. He and Angela talk about his article, The ties that bind us: An empirical, clinical, and constitutional argument against terminating parental rights, which found over 60,000 TPRs were granted annually between 2016-2019, despite a declining foster care population. While recognizing TPR is necessary in some cases, he poses some thoughtful questions for others.

Hairston At a little church in a small town called Mulga, Alabama, the power of prayer is revealed as the church's pastor (Reverend Hicks) uses stories from his life and the small town to paint a clear picture of the workings of God. The basis on which God chooses to answer our prayers is a question that man simply cannot answer. However, by searching through the Bible and uncovering God's instructions for prayer, we can maximize the likelihood that our prayers will be answered in the future. The exact manner in which prayer works is a secret, and that secret has not yet been revealed to us on earth. According to Deuteronomy 29:29, "The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law." His father-in-law insisting upon it, Germain goes to Fourche to meet a young widow who might become the new mother of his three children. Doing so, he accompanies Marie, a young girl from his village, who is going to work on a farm in that area. As the night comes, they get lost in a wood, next to a pool... (Summary by Ezwa)
