Are Healthcare Mandates Dharmic or Adharmic? Words like Ethics, Morality and Dharma are often spoken but majority of people have not understood the importance in reation to health
from The Dr Maya Way
DHARMA ETHICS and MORALITYMedical ethics, morality, and Dharma all converge on one unwavering principle: the protection of life and the prevention of harm. In modern medicine, ethics is grounded in duties such as beneficence (to help), non-maleficence (to do no harm), autonomy, and justice.Morality reflects the inner conscience that guides a practitioner to act with integrity, beyond rules and protocols. Dharma goes even deeper—it is the righteous duty to uphold balance, truth, and the well-being of all living beings. From a Dharmic perspective, if a drug, chemical, or procedure is believed—based on sound knowledge and clinical experience—to cause physical or mental harm, it is not only right but a duty to raise objection. Silence in the face of potential harm becomes complicity. Therefore, observing and identifying wrongdoings and challenging unsafe or unethical practices is an act of Dharma. Institutions have an equal responsibility to examine, justify, and defend such practice and research transparently, ensuring that the pursuit of knowledge does not override the fundamental obligation to protect life. When Priests told me “I Play God” because I declare death, I was shocked, because it is true. So I observed and identified numerous wrongdoings in “Doctor Centerd Care” (Adharma) and created digitalised “Patient Centerd Care” (Dharma). This is “MAYA”, to empower, conquer fear, and make informed decisions.
