Are Ideas Inherently Good Or Bad? (Episode #121 - Ideas)

from Mere Mortals Conversations · host Kyrin Down & Juan Granados

When an idea appears in your mind is it already inherently good or bad? In this themed episode Juan and I discuss the topic of 'Ideas'. To start off the episode we announce the winner of the suit voucher giveaway and close off on our learnings from doing it. We then jump into an immediate conflict of definitions and spend a bit of time sorting out what we each think the word 'idea' means. Juan's definition requires some sort of link to action while mine is more theoretical in nature. We then start discussing some fun hypothetical questions to get closer to the true nature of what an idea is. Our environment for the creation of good ideas is highly different as well, Juan preferring to be completely relaxed or energised, while I work best in a medium to low stress situation. At the end of the episode we chat a bit about the cult of CrossFit, Juan's back breaking experience of deadlifting 250 kg and the hilarious story of Dr Barnes and the Irukandji jellyfish. As always, we hope you enjoy, Mere Mortals out!Timeline:0:00 - Intro & Suit Giveaway result3:50 - Mere Mortal Moments6:47 - Definition12:18 - Is any idea inherently good or bad?17:10 - Where are ideas bred?22:20 - How the Mere Mortals originate their best ideas28:22 - Are there any ideas you are scared of?34:00 - The cult of CrossFit36:12 - Bravery in following an idea to its bitter end37:51 - Dr Jack Barnes and the Irukandji Jellyfish41:16 - Deadlifting 250 kg44:54 - A good idea; subscribe!!About Mere Mortals:Striving for excellence through life's lessons.
