Are Joe Arpaio's Days as Sheriff Numbered?
from Desert Politics · host Todd Landfried
In Maricopa County, Arizona, the County Sheriff is an elected position. The current sheriff is assumed by many to be popular, yet his approval ratings have dropped over 26% since January of 2007 to only 59%. So is Joe Arpaio vulnerable with such an incredible drop in ratings? Has he, as the Rocky Mountain Poll stated in its December 2007 poll, “peaked?” Are his days in office numbered? Today, we'll discuss why that may be the case with Buckeye Chief of Police Dan Saban, who earlier today formally announced he is a candidate to be the next Maricopa County Sheriff. As usual, the program included calls from the audience.
