The Right is tearing itself apart over a $20 burrito, while regular Americans are still getting crushed by the cost of living. A college kid told Turning Point USA’s Andrew Kolvet that a burrito shouldn’t cost twenty bucks. That simple complaint set off a full-blown conservative civil war. Ben Shapiro said you’re “doing life wrong” if you pay that much. Marc Thiessen told students to cry him a river. Then Vice President JD Vance jumped in with a fat joke about Thiessen never missing a burrito. Matt Walsh, Sean Davis, and half of conservative Twitter piled on. Meanwhile the actual prices of food, housing, and everything else never came back down after the Biden inflation spike. The rate slowed, but the high prices stuck. Voters handed Republicans the White House and Congress because they were sick of it. Now the same party is busy fighting a proxy war over Chipotle instead of delivering real relief. Tariffs, energy uncertainty, and endless internal drama aren’t helping. The $20 burrito is just the symbol. The real problem is a party that won on affordability and is now distracted by the dumbest online food fight imaginable.
