Are Trump's latest tariff threats a negotiating tactic?

from The Andrew Carter Podcast · host CJAD 800

Canada and the United States are once again facing a major trade showdown. U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans for a new 50 per cent tariff on a range of Canadian goods, including products covered under the Canada–U.S.–Mexico Agreement, or CUSMA. Prime Minister Mark Carney says the move violates the trade agreement, but says he and President Trump have agreed to intensify negotiations in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Canadian premiers, businesses and economists are weighing how to respond — and what these tariffs could mean for workers, consumers and the economy. Vassy Kapelos, CTV News’ Chief Political Correspondent and host of Power Play, spoke to Ken Connors.
