The incident added another layer of tension to an already politically charged night where media elites, politicians, and critics all gather under one roof pretending they still like each other. The Take: It says something when the “journalism celebration dinner” needs to feel like a security briefing. Between rising political hostility and public distrust of both government and media, even a black-tie roast night turns into a national stress test. Nobody trusts anybody anymore—and honestly, they’ve earned that.---DO WE EVEN CARE ANYMORE?The What: Americans have become strangely comfortable with dysfunction. High prices, political nonsense, endless scandals, crumbling infrastructure, and shrinking freedoms barely move the needle anymore. Instead of outrage, most people just shrug, scroll, and go back to work. Convenience has become stronger than conviction, and comfort often beats principle. The Take: It may not be apathy—it may be exhaustion. People are tired. Tired of fighting systems that never seem to change. But complacency has a cost. The more we normalize dysfunction, the more dysfunction becomes the standard. At some point, “it is what it is” becomes surrender.---KITCHEN LIES WE STILL BELIEVEThe What: The kitchen is full of myths passed down like family recipes. “Searing meat locks in juices” — false. Aluminum foil on everything? Not always the best move. Washing raw chicken? Actually increases contamination risk. Even the idea that you must flip a steak only once has been challenged by actual cooking science. The Take: A lot of cooking advice survives because Grandma said so, not because it works. The truth is, good cooking is less about tradition and more about understanding heat, moisture, and timing. Some myths still work by accident—but many just waste time and ruin dinner.-----SHOW CREDITS:Thank you to my co-host, Ken Madden of MaddK StudioAudio credits and Producer Jason Radosevich Horrible DesignsCast: Kate the Duchess of NJ and John Jamingo of theBoomer BunkerAaron of I had to Say itBoomer Bob of the Boomer Bob ShowLorenzo from Misanthrope Radio 2.0Cody the Beard as the Last Word.Supporters:Steve McShane of the Razor Wire NewsJosh Roberts from New Hampshireand you can always leave a comment by email: [email protected]

Hey, it beats 2nd period algebra! Explicit Not Another D&D Podcast Headgum Welcome to NADDPOD!
