In today's digital landscape, social media has woven itself into the fabric of our lives. It's hard to imagine a day without checking updates, liking posts, or scrolling through feeds. A staggering 95% of teens aged 13 to 17 are on social media, with one-third using it almost constantly. But at what cost? Recent studies reveal a troubling connection between heavy social media use and mental health issues in young people. Research, including a 2025 study from Columbia and Weill Cornell Medicine, has found that preteens who spend excessive time on these platforms often struggle with anxiety and depression.
