Hello and good morning everyone. Today I'm showing up in front of my mirror to do an episode after being asked one simple question from my lovely listener. The question is, hello Lalita, you aren't doing the podcast anymore? Well, I responded to her.
I put my podcast on the back burner as I committed to myself to do a self-motivated 21 days video challenge. I've been doing this podcast, episodes, recording, voice recording, which I started as a 21 day challenge initially and then I said, okay, I'm getting good at it. I guess so. Then I said, let me do a video challenge and that's what I'm doing and today is, and I completed day 12.
I will share the link to my videos. In fact, I created a simple web page where you can access my podcast episodes and videos in the description box to this episode. Please feel free to check it out. And as far as the episodes in podcast, yeah, it's been two weeks since I recorded one.
So today I said to myself, let me pull my testimonial folder where I have put all my listeners insights and comments and first express my gratitude to you all. So thank you. Thank you so much. So here I'm going to read some few of them and the rest of course I will keep for the next episode.
Started today morning to re-listen to your podcast episodes. Enjoyed the talk with Ms. Bria and the viewing elder years episode. Number two, just heard your message on Women's Day Lolita.
Thank you. I don't do a quarter of what you do, Lita. You are a great inspiration to this next generation women. Full of energy and motivation.
Keep up the good job and spirits. No fluttering here. I mean it. Wow.
Thank you. Number three, our conversation sometimes helps me to relate to some particular situations or evaluate my feelings about those situations later too. Maybe I'm not able to put it into words in a better way. Believe it or not, I just mentioned about your podcast to my daughter and immediately I got the message from you.
Wow. Thank you. Next one. Chibi, a very, very happy Women's Day.
I have been listening to your podcast at night. I must say your voice is really calming to the mind. I would love to learn more about communication with the higher intelligence. I also heard the interview with the junior painter.
Thank you. Next. Happy Women's Day to a person with dynamic views. Enjoyed hearing your podcast.
Loved it. Thank you. You're simply rocking Ma. I love those love vitamins.
Thank you. Very nice, Mami. Thank you. Mami means aren't.
You speak so well and presently in your podcast. Thank you. It's awesome. I think you have mentioned the emotional bank account to me before.
But I forgot about it. It is such a great and innovative idea to motivate ourselves. I will definitely incorporate refreshing as always. Thank you.
I still have more testimonials and I will read them in my next episode. Thank you all for your patience and understanding. I'm going to keep this episode short because my SMD, which you know by now is start my day, book is already filled with items that I have committed to do. I only hope I keep it up.
I do even I slack off. Sometimes I don't. But then I have created some mechanisms to deal with those emotions. Well, I'm leaning towards talking about feelings today for two reasons.
Number one is I'm doing a course from Yale titled managing emotions in times of uncertainty and stress. Actually, this is this is a course meant for teachers to handle their students emotions and stress during uncertainty. That's what I realized after I started doing the course. But then it is helping me too.
It's helping me too. Number two is COVID situation is still not regulated globally. More so in India in specific and that is definitely causing concerns. Okay.
First, I feel all the emotions like sadness for the loss of several lives and anger for some helpless situations, joy for the discovery of vaccine and so on. So there are mixed emotions. Trust me. I feel all of them.
There is so much information I would love to share. This course managing emotions in times of uncertainty and stress, it validated the value of some of the activities that I'm already doing. So what I'm trying to do is, okay, this is from Yale all try, I mean, research papers are there to back up. Okay.
Also through coaching through workshops, they are also research back. But then the focus is more on the strategy and the techniques and which I'm more interested. It's not that I blindly follow. I tested on myself.
If it works, then I would love to share with people like you. And then all I do is invite you to test it out. If it doesn't work, believe it. That's it as simple as that.
But this course, they have it's backed with the research papers and they also quote a lot of research papers, they quote your graphs, you know, to show all the documentation and everything. So let's focus on one emotion, anger. This is the red color in the mood meter as I learned from this course, anger. So there is what I mean by mood meter is the way I learned it is.
Like imagine X axis and Y axis, X axis is pleasantness, Y axis energy level. So anger comes in the top left hand corner. It is least pleasant, not pleasant, but then very high energy in the in the mostly the disruptive way I guess. So most unpleasant and high energy.
So a couple of ways to feel the anger is number one, notice it, but don't judge whether it's a good or bad. Don't judge it. Number two, take depress. So that is the action part.
The the neo cortex, I would say the action part, but it didn't part right. Let me get a little combination. Then now comes the self-talk that is the neo cortex part which can plan which can think which can execute. Okay.
Then come to self-talk ask yourself does this anger make you feel good and serve your purpose. If you dig, I mean if it is yes, if it serves your purpose dig deeper, go for it. Start writing down why why why and then you'll get answered. If no by the way, anger will be gone.
I promise you if no, just check how can you reframe your self-talk to shift the anger to calmness. So you've already done your breathing exercise. Okay. That is to control your limbic system.
So you're now going to the neo cortex, your brain, the front of your cortex. In my experience doing affirmations consistently helps in what to say to ourselves and also it is a preventing work. So now it is more of a preventive. So if you can prevent the becoming anger, I'm not saying that don't feel your anger.
If you can prevent by some of the techniques, why not? If you can prevent, like for example, let's say I'm feeling sad about something, can I not bring the gratitude which is supposed to be gratitude is coming in yellow, which is high, highly pleasant and high energy. Why not I could do it, right? So I can be in gratitude for what, for whatever the situation brought to that sadness or something like that, I can be in gratitude for the person.
So many things if you can analyze because it's a personal thing, you know, you're sad for something which is personal to you. You're angry for something which is personal to you. So you figure it out where you can bring gratitude to that point of time and bring yourself to the yellow region would be tough. So in my experience, doing affirmations consistently helps me in what to say to ourselves in self-talk when we experience blue or red emotions.
Blue is sadness, not pleasant, low energy, low, unpleasant, unpleasant. And then anger is right as I told you the more bitter. Probably you might say, hey, Lalita, hey, it's easy for you to say all this, okay. There is no time and I don't believe in all these things.
Trust me, I've been there. Guess what? The research papers are proving that self-talk is huge, especially now during pandemic and uncertainty because you can't go and talk everything out to everybody, but then self-talk is huge now. It's helping you manage your emotions and guess what?
Manage your emotions to get better at what? How these emotions are helping you? I tell you, blue am I, when I did this, I'm still cutting to do the course. It's still I've got three more weeks to go.
So it's helping in learning, memory, decision making, creativity and building better relationships. So you might be wondering what kind of self-talk. So for today, I will read an affirmation on feelings from the book, Medications to Heal Your Life by the way, saying that will help you in moving from the fix it mindset. No, no, no, no, these things don't work.
My parents never did it. My grandmother never did it or my husband did it. Whatever to a growth mindset and view feelings in a different way. Okay, let's see, I'm going to go ahead and read it for you.
We create our own feelings by the thoughts we choose to think. We have ability to make different choices and create different experiences. Feelings are thoughts in motion in our bodies. We can heal and we can feel.
So we must allow ourselves to feel our feelings. So many people put judgments on their feelings. They say they shouldn't be angry, but they are. They are searching for a way to deal with their feelings.
There are many safe ways to express feelings. You can beat below. I don't do that. Okay, you can beat below.
Probably it works for some people, okay? Scream in the car, run, play tennis. You can do this. You can have a heated conversation in front of the mirror.
With the people you are angry at or hurt by or afraid of. Imagine these people standing before you. Look in the mirror and tell them how you really feel. Get it all out and then finish with something like, okay, that's done.
I release you and let you go. Now, what do I believe about myself that created this? And what belief could I change so that I will not react with anger all the time? This is an incredible time to be alive.
Be gentle with yourself. As you learn your lessons and move through life. What a fantastic affirmation. I promise you, I read these.
Now, every day I just think about it. Like for example, if something is bothering me to everything sad, I come and I open this book, meditation is really life and I just sometimes I do random, sometimes I said, no, I'm going to look at the index and see, I want to learn about this affirmation. And what does Louis say saying about it so that I can, you know, borrow that power of thinking differently from her. Now, my lovely listeners, it's your turn and test with yourself for yourself.
Let me know your thoughts and insights until my next episode. Stay safe. Feel your feelings only. Stop judging them.
Create a process and be happy. Thank you and you have a fantastic day. Bye bye.
