Because as I've said probably 200 times before, 13.5 % voter turnout is not going to change anything. 00:32 here in South Carolina. Not with our open private. You've got members of the House and Senate in Columbia who do not want to close the primaries because if they wanted to close them, they would have done so by now. As far as I get, I mean, about three different times. Three different times. And it passed with, mean, oh my goodness. Well, I did come back, here we go, I'll tell you. Hold on. 2018, June primary, 83 % said yes, closed the primaries. June primary of 2020, 85%. 01:49 said yes, close the primaries. June primary of 2022, 84 % said yes, close the primaries, but they don't wanna close the primaries. So you got two things going on right here. 02:00 You've got the Republicans out there that do not want to close the primaries because they benefit from the Democrats crossing over and keeping them in office. Then, then... 02:11 You have a South Carolina Republican Party who almost, as far as I can tell, refuses to get out and hold voter drives to get more people to vote. 02:27 because they're counting on the same old, same old getting out there and voting. They want the people that voted these people in office to be the ones that vote. They don't want to go get new voters. 02:44 and the people in Columbia, they can sit there and talk about it all they want to, they do not want to close the primaries. By the way, just a few minutes ago, we had a caller, and man, I hope he's able to send me the exchange that he had from someone, and I have to say this, claiming to be a member of the ROM Ready team, all right? Because he asked about, 03:10 does RomReady support closed primaries? And the response was from the person who allegedly was from the RomReady team said, no, we believe everybody's voter access, all of that, the primary should be open. 03:27 So I gave JJ a task. said, find me the transcripts of my interview with Rom Ready. And man, let me tell you something. JJ don't play. He got it done. And I want to read to you this. uh I said, how do you feel about closing the primaries? Because a lot of people in the House and the Senate benefit from open primaries here in South Carolina. Should we close them? Rom Ready replied, how do I feel? 03:57 100 percent we should close them, but not close them with all this cockamamie nonsense. We should just close them. And what he's talking about is all of this, you know, unaffiliated voter this and all of that stuff. So RomReady on this program said he was for closing the primary.
