FLIES, FLIES, AND MORE FLIES If your outfit is like ours, you are battling the flies, and lots of them this year.  It seems nothing is getting a break. It is very important that we know what types of flies we are fighting.  There are 4 types of flies that exist on a cow/calf, stocker, feedlot, and dairy outfit.  They are Horn Flies, Face Flies, Stable Flies, and House Flies.  All of them have a tremendous economic impact on our bottom line, as much as $50 dollars a head and up!  Those are real-life numbers and significant ones at that. Horn Flies and Face Flies are the most common in a cow/calf operation and with stocker cattle.  Horn Flies exist on the backs of cattle while Face Flies feed around the eyes and tear ducts.  Stable Flies bite the legs of cattle and often cause them to bunch up.  Economic losses due to the mismanagement of flies can result in as much as one billion dollars a year!  Experts from Elanco Animal Health join us on this episode of The Ranch It Up Radio Show to help identify what we are “bugged” with!     FCA QUALITY REPLACEMENT HEIFER SALE Florida Cattlemen’s Association Quality Replacement Heifer Sale Kevin Escobar @annualfcaqualityreplacementheifersale https://floridacattlemen.org/ FEATURING M.
