After about three days, the event page took off, with over 2 million Facebook RSVPs and another 1.2 million marked as “interested” in attending before site administrators took it down.ForbesIn Rachel, Little A’Le’Inn owner Connie West said she was sad to hear the Hiko festival didn’t succeed. In a voice hoarse from stress and lack of sleep, she said a noon-to-midnight slate of Alienstock event musical entertainment would continue for the several thousand revellers camping on her property and nearby federal land.“This is the most fabulous time,” West said. “I’m just so grateful that people came. This is their event as much as it is mine.”Guardian Art McQuiddy was the editor of the Roswell morning newspaper in July of 1947. He is now 91 years old but he remembers the events around the UFO Crash like it was yesterday. Art tells Jerry the details surrounding the event itself, his first hand experience with the people involved including the military base, the Sheriff's department and what makes this interview so riveting is the fact that McQuiddy would become friends with the commanding officer of the base, William Blanchard, Glenn Dennis, and he saw Walter Haut and Jesse Marcel on a regular basis due to news stories coming from the military base.
