from ABC News Top Stories · host ABC Australia
Argentina are through to the final after a thrilling late game come back against England in Atlanta. The three Lions opened the score early in the second half with Anthony Gordon finding the back of the net after a Morgan Rodgers cross. The goal galvanised Argentina who took control of the game while England were forced into defending. The Argentinian players' efforts were rewarded at the 85th minute when Enzo Fernandes equalised with a strike from a distance. They kept pushing and seven minutes later Lautaro Martinez hit the winning goal with a header. Both goals came from assists by captain Lionel Messi. Argentina are through to their second final in a row and will now face Spain for a shot at soccer history. The last team that won two consecutive world cups was Brazil in 1958 and 1962. Yesterday Spain booked its place for the final by beating France 2-nil in Dallas. France and England will now face each other for the third place on Sunday morning in Miami. The Spain versus Argentina final will be played in New York on Monday morning. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
