Ariana and the Three Dwarfs | Next Gen NYC S2 Finale Recap

A Next Gen NYC Season 2 finale recap on Ariana and the three cast members orbiting her, and the editing choices that set up whatever Season 3 plans to sell.| A party called new beginnings that opens with the ex walking through the door. That is the Next Gen NYC finale, and the show did not even pause to enjoy its own joke.On this episode of The Good Edit Unfiltered, behavioral analyst Elle Schwartz breaks down the Season 2 finale and lands somewhere unexpected. The hour is not organized around the love triangle at all. It is organized around parents.Six cast members get a scene with a mother or a father. Emira D'Spain with her mom, in the same hour she lands a cover. Riley Burruss with her mom, where we find out she speaks Korean. Liam Obergfoll with his, shot through a restaurant window from the sidewalk, which Elle takes apart. Gia Giudice with her father. Rowan Henchy with Chris Henchy. Ava Dash with hers. And then the part nobody else will name: the two cast members who carried the most conflict all season got almost none of that. A parent scene is the cheapest humanizing device television has, and the edit handed it to six people and withheld it from two. There is also Charlie Zakkour, and the moment that reframes his whole season. Talking to Ava, he describes what he is doing as sinister. His own word about himself. Elle makes the case that this is far more interesting than a villain, because a man who names the shape of what he is doing while he is doing it is not caught, he is narrating. And it explains the record going back months. He told a producer he could see a world where he might step on Liam's toes if the opportunity arises. He said the rejection made it hit sweeter. He took the bad boy label the second it was offered. He has been telling everybody exactly what he is doing all season, and the group kept hearing it as banter. Then the ending. Ariana Biermann ends things with Liam before the party even starts. Hudson McLeroy is in the room. And the season closes on a kiss with Charlie.Elle names the sequence and leaves the verdict where it belongs. She also owes a correction and pays it in full. Part of this season was built on a read of Ava Dash as the source of the drama, and that read did not hold. Which opened up something bigger. There is no real villain on this show at all. Not one. Elle makes the case that the reason is simple and rare. This cast actually likes each other, so the show never had to manufacture an engine, and nobody had to be sacrificed to keep it moving.Plus the Levity Ledger, including the single most efficient act of loyalty in Bravo history, which involved a lemon and a man's head. And what to watch when the two part reunion begins September 16.Context, not just recap. The Edittors know the difference.New episodes weekly.
