Armstrong Out with Calf Tear | Cleveland Guardians News

Guardians reliever Shawn Armstrong is sidelined for 15 days with a significant calf strain suffered during a game against the Rays — a freak injury he describes as feeling like a kick to the leg. Despite a solid season with a 2-1 record and a 4.91 ERA in 38 appearances, this setback hits hard as the team pushes for playoff contention. Armstrong, 35, previously missed time with a groin strain and is now awaiting an ankle specialist’s assessment, though the Achilles appears intact. To fill his void, the Guardians have recalled lefty Will Dion from Triple-A Columbus for the third time this season.
