Army Secretary Resigns Amid Pentagon Tensions | Spokane News

Army Secretary Dan Driscoll is reportedly stepping down amid escalating tensions with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who allegedly blocked key modernization efforts and removed top generals — including Driscoll’s longtime ally, Army Chief of Staff Randy George. Driscoll, known for his push against big defense contractors and focus on readiness, had aligned closely with VP JD Vance and played a pivotal role in major military operations. His resignation comes as part of a wave of Pentagon shakeups under Hegseth, though the White House has yet to confirm acceptance — praising Driscoll’s effectiveness while underscoring the high-stakes nature of this leadership transition during ongoing Middle East deployments.
