ARN Live Show - April 29, 2010

from Annenberg Radio News · host Heather Hope

A slew of demonstrations have erupted in response to Arizona’s new anti-immigrant law, and today Mayor Villaraigosa is joining other political leaders in calling for a boycott of Arizona. We sent a reporter to city hall to hear what the Mayor says about the law that calls on local police to ask for legal papers from those they suspect are illegal. Students at USC rallied at the center of campus, and said the law will lead to racial profiling. You’ll hear how that demonstration ended in a verbal fight between a supporter of the law and the protesters. Plus, this week is the Kentucky Derby and we’ll share a story about a woman who hopes to one day be the number one jockey in the country. Producer: Jessica Flores, Host: Heather Hope, Live Guest: Alex Goldsmith (ATVN). Featuring instrumental tracks from music by Herbie Hancock, Baby Bash, Marty James, Jason Derulo, and Ryan Amen.
