The Los Angeles City Council approved plans for a massive redevelopment of the Wilshire Grand hotel that will cost more than $1.2 billion. Officials expect it to be a source of future revenue for the city. Learn about local responses to the disasters in Japan, and stories from survivors. Tyson Foods and the LAUSD donated a whopping 29,000 lbs. of boneless chicken to the Los Angeles’ regional food bank in hopes of making a dent in the local battle against hunger; A study released by the Food Research and Action Center found that across California, one in five of the survey’s participants did not have enough money for adequate food for themselves and their families, at least one time in 2010.
