ARN Live Show - March 3, 2011

from Annenberg Radio News · host Megan Dickey

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa introduced a new dining campaign during a news conference today. Starting Tuesday, the city is toughening its rules with a ban on smoking in outdoor dining areas. This plan even includes food trucks. In other news, the Vision Theater is a historical gem in Leimert Park. But the theater has fallen into disrepair. The combination of grants and city funding will help give the theater a make over. Today marks the 20th anniversary of the Rodney King beating. The violence was caught on video by a man across the street. We asked community members for their memories of the incident. And in just five days, Los Angeles voters will make some big decisions. We interviewed four city council members for today’s show. Andrew Kim, Austin Dragon, Bernard Parks and Forescee Hogan-Rowles spoke to our reporters. Producer: Christine Trang, Host: Megan Dickey, Live Guest: Candice Brain (ATVN). Featuring instrumental tracks from music by Devendra Banhart, Brian Eno, Rage Against the Machine, Peaches, and Ryan Amen.
