The longtime voice of Purdue football and women's basketball Tim Newton celebrates birthday No. 63 (Dec. 5, 2023) with GoldandBlack.com. Newton will be broadcasting his 1000th Boilermaker women's game this season. He was named the 2021 Indiana Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association (NSMA). As the top sportscaster in the state, Newton became the first Purdue broadcaster to earn the award since Joe McConnell in 2000. A Boilermaker for most of his life, the Irving, New York, native has worked at Purdue for 33-plus years and graduated from the university in 1981 as a mass communication major.   The fall of 2023 was Newton's 29th football season with the Boilermaker Sports Network.
