Joining Guy Atchley on this Around the Cracker Barrel is Amy Oliver, Public Affairs Officer from the Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory, located at the base of Mount Hopkins, in Amado. Amy Oliver, who plays a significant role at the observatory which is owned by the Smithsonian, provides an insider's look at its fascinating work and contributions to the field of astronomy. There is so much to learn and so much to see at the observatory. Amy Oliver will be sharing about this truly extraordinary place, located right here in our own back yard. From observing distant galaxies to studying celestial phenomena, the observatory offers a unique window into the universe. Even After the closing of the Whipple Observatory due to the Covid Pandemic, operations continued. The Observatory will reopen October 4th of this year 10am to 4pm. Ticketed Entries are free however advanced tickets for opening day are recommended. At the reopening and dates beyond, Visitors will be able to engage with interactive exhibits, and attend educational programs.
