After an hour or two with Carlii Lyon I was left feeling like a massive ‘fan girl’. There I said it. Actually, if there was ‘Carlii Lyon’ merchandise I would buy it and wear it! I have never felt so uplifted and positive as I did after we chatted – why I hear you ask? Well because Carlii specialises in personal branding. To quote her website mission statement ‘To inspire women everywhere to be their own brand and put themselves out there.’ And she certainly left me feeling inspired. I’m sure I am not the only one out there who struggles to ‘blow their own trumpet’, when it comes to self-promotion even as a former publicist, I suck at it. So I couldn’t wait to pick Carlii’s brain.Carlii herself was a top publicist; representing a host of remarkable individuals and brands; including a world-leading Supermodel, New York Times bestselling authors and pioneers in the world of wellness. It was not until she was on extended maternity leave that she looked back and realised I had never taken the time, or made the effort, to build her own personal brand. She was petrified about the idea of putting myself out there. As Carlii says “It took a major loss for me to realise life is too short to play small!
