Arrowhead Stadium earns LEED Gold certification

The Kansas City Chiefs recently celebrated GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium receiving LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. This prestigious honor recognizes the venue's success in reducing energy costs by 10 percent and lowering water consumption by 14 percent over a one-year evaluation period. The stadium's achievement is largely credited to the Extra Yard for the Environment initiative, which has significantly improved waste diversion through composting and recycling programs. Beyond utility savings, the certification highlights the organization's dedication to sustainable staff transit and healthier indoor air quality. By modernizing an older, complex facility to meet rigorous environmental standards, the Chiefs have positioned their home field as a regional leader in ecological responsibility. This milestone reflects a long-term commitment to using professional sports as a platform for community-wide conservation and climate action.
