Art at the Mill
from The Valley Today · host Janet Michael
Our conversation today with Nathan Stalvey, Executive Director for the Clarke County Historical Association included all the details for the spring Art at the Mill art show. Art at the Mill opens to the public on Saturday, April 22, 2023, and runs through Sunday, May 7, 2023. There will be an artist reception on Sunday, April 30, 2023, from 2pm - 5pm. The show will be open Sunday - Friday from noon til 5pm and Saturdays from 10am - 5pm. Nathan told us that the show features almost 300 different artists, all local and regional. Over 1000 works of art will be available for sale of all types of mediums. Paintings are predominant, but other types of mixed-media, sculpture, fine woodworking, and pottery round out the stunning diversity of the show. He told us that there is truly something for every taste, budget, and decor. Sales primarily support the Burwell-Morgan Mill and its operations, but a portion also supports Sarah P. Trumbower Memorial Scholarship fund awarded to a Clarke County student pursuing a university education in fine arts. Nathan also gave details for a few other upcoming events: Millers Training Day is happening on Saturday, May 20, 2023. He also told us about a partnership with Morgan's Ford Farm in Clarke County, where they will be grinding locally grown wheat at the mill - with it's own special label. Plus, he gave details for a talk on the History of the Garden Club of Virginia that will happen on Sunday, May 21, 2023. Before we wrapped up our conversation, Nathan encouraged listeners to check out their new TikTok account and see some behind the scenes videos they've posted there.
