Art can be fun again

from Barrie J Davies · host Barrie J Davies

Art can be fun againHey, I’m Barrie J Davies — Brighton-based street pop surrealism artist, full-time chaos enthusiast, professional paint spiller, and proud creator of all things loud, neon, silly, and slightly unhinged… and welcome to my podcast. This is a daily podcast — but don’t panic. No long, serious, “let’s analyse the meaning of life through a triangle” episodes here. These are short, unpredictable bursts of creative nonsense. Think quick hits of whatever weird idea, colourful moment, or questionable thought has decided to move into my brain rent-free that day. There are usually no guests either. It’s more like you’ve accidentally checked your voicemail and found a message from a slightly chaotic artist. A quick ramble, a strange idea, a behind-the-scenes moment… then I disappear back into the studio to throw paint at something. And speaking of the studio… right now it looks like a neon carnival crashed into a comic book and then exploded. There’s graffiti, pop art, pop surrealist madness, prints, canvases, ink, stencils — absolute chaos. Honestly, there’s so much paint flying around that even Jackson Pollock would walk in, look around, and quietly leave. On this podcast, I share the behind-the-scenes of being a Brighton artist making street pop art and surreal work, plus all the weird thoughts bouncing around my head. One day I might be talking about a fresh print that looks like it’s been dipped in candy floss… the next, I’m questioning why pigeons walk like they’ve got somewhere important to be. (They don’t.)Because it’s daily and completely unpredictable, anything can happen. One episode might be about a painting I’ve just finished, the next might be a completely random idea that appeared while I was staring at a dripping paintbrush wondering if that counts as productivity. This is not your typical art podcast. No quiet gallery voices. No serious debates. No “what does art mean?” chat. (Spoiler: sometimes it means I had too much coffee.)This is colourful, chaotic, graffiti-splattered, pop art nonsense in podcast form. Think of it like a rollercoaster made of spray cans, glitter, and seaside sugar — slightly dangerous, definitely messy, but a very good time.So go on — jump in, have a listen, and join the chaos.👉 BUY MY FUN ART HERE – https://www.barriejdavies.info👉 JOIN MY FUN MAILING LIST – https://www.barriejdavies.info/pages/vip-mailing-list👉 FOLLOW MY FUN INSTAGRAM – https://www.instagram.com/barriejdavies
