Sonia Lawson RA will be staking out the influences upon her work since the late sixties, beginning with the belief that conscience and accountability had to be taken on board, looking at those influences that have occupied her from early social comment to later bright autobiographics; and recently to her use of paint for its own sake, applying abstract principles and gaining some freedom from strictures of specific story telling yet scoring figurative elements into the surface. And in our time, her firm belief in that painting and drawing remain worthwhile activities. Apologies for the poor audio playback quality during this event
