Tan seductoras como repulsivas, la capacidad de comunicación de estas imágenes es infalible, ya que se convierten en agentes activos que interactúan directamente con el público al que van dirigidas. Entre todas ellas hay una que destaca por su rotundidad y por su impacto visual y que la historiografía francesa ha denominado como femme-aux-serpents, iconografía perfecta para ilustrar el castigo a la lujuria.
