A little background: so when I write science fiction, I always do copious amounts of research into the subjects I will be writing about. In my upcoming novel to be released in the spring, The Day Science Fiction Died, there is an AI that wants to kill. And for that to have a realistic spin on the story, I had to research serial killers. Not my favorite subject, by the way. However, here's where it gets interesting. I stumbled upon a book titled, The Big Book of Serial Killers: 150 Serial Killer Files of the World’s Worst Murders by Jack Rosewood. It highlighted twelve common traits of a serial killer. And digging deeper, there was not much imagination needed, frankly, none at all, in linking AI's behavior to the twelve organic dot-connectors. Actually, sadly, it is extremely disturbing what I uncovered. AI has these very same behavioral flaws. This should frighten you.
