Artist Review - Brianna Lizotte

Kejo Buchanan, guide of Jali Journey is joined by guest, Brianna Lizotte, a JUNO-nominated Métis fiddler, educator and recording artist based in Alberta. She speaks about a recent live lakeside rendition of “Whiskey Before Breakfast,” as well as her autobiographical album, titled “Winston & I” (2024), on which she plays her fiddle, Winston, while accompanied by her husband, Ethan Graves, on spoons.  Brianna’s sound combines research of family kitchen parties with academia, including inspiration from jazz and various genre-bending styles, igniting the next generation of 'la podorythmie' tradition.
