Wednesday June 21 Host/producer Maria Vasquez Boyd talks with Josie Mai Executive Director of Spiva Center for the Arts in Joplin, MO, Margaret Hoang Maker Faire Kansas City Producer, photographer Sharon Rodriguez, and Bill Sundahl KKFI Special Events Coordinator. Josie Mai Executive Director of Spiva Center for the Arts-In August 2016, 80 local, regional, and national artists were invited to a year-long sketchbook project. The artists have one year to fill the sketchbook, until Labor Day 2017. The sketchbook will return to Spiva where it becomes the property of Spiva Center for the Arts and archived in the library where the community can come view the sketchbooks. The sketchbooks will also be scanned and posted to Spiva's website. There is a scheduled exhibit in May 2018 that will display framed color 2-page spreads of several of the original sketchbooks. The 80 artists participating are ages 8-80, creatively and concurrently documenting their thoughts, interests, hopes, and dreams. Josie Mai is the Executive Director of Spiva Center for the Arts in Joplin, Missouri, as well as an artist and educator.
