A's Bullpen Implodes, Ketel Marte Walks Off Doyers | BD Baseball 6-5-26

from Burnin’ Daylight · host Matt McKinley

Happy Friday, Daylight Burners. Jake is out today, so I’m rolling solo through a lighter MLB slate that still gave us plenty to talk about. I’ve got to start with the A’s, because that one hurt. JT Ginn gave Oakland six innings, two hits, one run, and eight punchouts. That is exactly the kind of start you want. The offense did its job too. Shea Langeliers hit an inside-the-park homer and another shot, Tyler Soderstrom went deep, Jonah Heim joined in, and the A’s put six runs on Shota Imanaga. That should have been enough. It was not. The bullpen gave up six, the Cubs walked it off 7-6, and Wrigley got to celebrate snapping an eight-game home losing streak. The A’s still took two out of three in Chicago, but that was one they had in their pocket. I also get into Zach Wheeler keeping it rolling for the Phillies, Baltimore roughing up Boston, the Yankees edging Cleveland, the Giants and Brewers putting up a football score, Toronto avoiding the sweep in Atlanta, Kansas City’s offense showing signs of life, Pittsburgh beating Houston, and Ketel Marte walking off the Dodgers in Arizona. Then I look ahead to the weekend series that matter: A’s-Astros, Mariners-Tigers, Pirates-Braves, Guardians-Rangers, Reds-Cardinals, Brewers-Rockies at Coors, and the Battle of L.A. The A’s are still hanging around the AL West and wild card picture. The Cubs still look like June swoon candidates to me. The Braves and Dodgers keep looking like monsters. And the NL Central is still the division I’m watching closest. Now move your ass. We’re burning daylight. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

I Think You're Overthinking It Chris Hardwick | Daylight Media Hey it’s me! Chris Hardwick! This new old podcast is now called “I Think You're Overthinking It," because, well, I am an incurable overthinker. Are you? Probably! Why else would you have clicked on this? Do you lie awake at night analyzing some random conversation you had in 2009 on a loop? Or every one since then? In an economy of attention where our minds are on overdrive every second of every day it seems damn near impossible to pump the brakes on our inner chatter. We might feel okay when we’re distracted externally with work or streaming or scrolling, but when we’re not, BOY can we think ourselves into holes—these holes keep us stuck and unable to feel peace or pursue our goals. My hope is to inspire people to take a breath, get their brain out of the way a little, and take one step forward at a time. I started many things in middle age: guitar, piano, Italian, PARENTING, even farming (I still don't think I'm ready for goats, Lydia)…and what I realized is that it’s never Explicit Imaginary Worlds Eric Molinsky | Daylight Media Imaginary Worlds sounds like what would happen if NPR went to ComicCon and decided that’s all they ever wanted to cover. Host Eric Molinsky spent over a decade working as a public radio reporter and producer, and he uses those skills to create thoughtful, sound-rich episodes about science fiction, fantasy, and other genres of speculative fiction. In this award-winning podcast, Eric talks with filmmakers, screenwriters, novelists, comic book artists, game designers, and anyone who works in the field of make-believe about how they craft their worlds. He also talks with academics and fans about why we suspend our disbelief, and what happens if the spell is broken. Imaginary worlds may be set on distant planets or parallel dimensions, but they are crafted here on Earth, and they’re always about us and our lived experiences. Explicit Big Mad True Crime Big Mad Media | Daylight Media Tackling big cases, lesser known cases, and everything in between. Get BIG MAD over true while we discuss the details of the cases you THOUGHT you knew. Explicit Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum Daylight Media I’m Michael Rosenbaum, I’ve spent the better part of the last two decades in and out of film and television - mostly known for playing the bald dude on the show Smallville. I’m the guy that you probably don’t know by name, but when you see my face you might say “oh, that guy from that thing.” I’ve befriended some of the most talented people in the business, but it wasn’t until I started inviting them into my home that I realized, I didn’t really know these people. What started as me having some fun, quickly evolved into something I’ve fallen in love with. What I’ve discovered is that all these people aren’t that different from you and me. They have the same insecurities and flaws that we all deal with every day. In a dark, yet enlightening way... I find a lot of comfort in that. I invite you all to join me while I get inside each of these fascinating people. Explicit
