If Christ is in you, the body is “dead because of sin,” yet the Spirit is life and the same Holy Spirit who indwells believers now is the guarantee of the future bodily resurrection. That’s not a side doctrine. It’s a cornerstone of Christian faith and a bedrock for Christian assurance. From there we hit Romans 8:12 and the question of obligation: yes, we are debtors, but not to the flesh. The old master brought corruption and death, so it has no rightful claim to rule us.
